With an internal demand of 1,437 MW fully covered, the country also achieved an exportable surplus of 226.47 MW, helping to supply the energy deficit of other Central American countries. Electric system operators in Latin America have taken a significant step towards the energy future with the creation of the Latin American Electric Operators Network. With 60% of its installed capacity coming from renewable sources, Latin America enjoys a notable advantage in terms of availability and production costs compared to other parts of the world. Additionally, its access to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans facilitates direct export routes to European and Asian markets, where exponential growth in green hydrogen demand is expected in the coming years.
